March 27-April 3: Epic! Dinosaur Week

PK/K have loved many of our dinosaur books to literal pieces! Hence, I thought I'd feature dinosaurs in this week's stories and activities.

I'll be reading two books from Epic! eBooks which is a platform that is offering FREE (no credit card or commitment required) remote access to 40,000+ eBooks to students affected by coronavirus closures. E-mail Mrs. Echols at [email protected] to request access for your child or to share feedback/progress regarding distance library lessons. I love to see how these lessons are working out at home!

Please also feel free to schedule a Zoom appointment with me if you've got questions about books or just want to say a quick hello!

Day 1

Mrs. Echols Reads Am I Yours?

  2. Read I Am Yours along with Mrs. Echols in the linked YouTube video.
  3. What kind of dinosaurs did we see in this story? How were the dinosaurs able to tell what kind of baby was in the egg?
  4. Read more books about dinosaurs in Epic! in Mrs. Echols' PK Picks collection.
  5. Optional screen-free extension activities
    1. Print and complete the dinosaur matching activity.
    2. Make dinosaur eggs! You'll need scissors, crayons or colored pencils (light colors work best), and tape or glue.
      1. Print the dinosaur matching activity,
      2. Cut apart the dinosaurs
      3. . Use white paper to draw ovals. Make sure they're big enough to fit over the dinosaurs.
      4. Glue/tape the eggs over the dinosaurs.
      5. Hold your eggs up to the window when the sun is shining to see the dino babies just like in the book!
